On October 7, Diamond Bar High and Diamond Ranch High will face off on the gridiron, and the winning team will receive a brand new trophy: the Mayor’s Cup.
According to Mayor Steve Tye, the goal of the Mayor’s Cup is to celebrate the accomplishments and talent of the athletes.
“Sports, particularly when they involve youth, have a way of bringing the community together,” Tye said in a statement. “The Mayor’s Cup is a means for celebrating that togetherness.
“What’s great about Diamond Bar having two great varsity football teams is that we have twice the opportunity to score championships that bring positive recognition to our youth and our community.”
The game will start at 7 p.m. at Diamond Bar High School.
