The Choir Teacher
Patty Breitag was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and has lived in the Los Angeles area for 22 years. She earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance/Piano Performance Minor from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory of Music (Pi Kappa Lambda) and her Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from California State University Long Beach (Phi Kappa Phi).
Along with teaching Choir and AP Music Theory/International Baccalaureate Music, she is a professional musician and choral conductor working in many musical genres including symphony orchestras, accompanist for recitals, casuals, concerts and choral groups and jazz and rock touring groups. She has been the choral director of several community groups in the LA area for the last several years. She also has an extensive background in Musical Theatre where she has been either musical director, rehearsal accompanist, pit musician, or conductor of many musicals throughout Los Angeles and Kansas City areas.
She works at Fullerton College in the summer with the SRO Musical Theatre program and is on the Musical Theatre Staff at El Camino College in Torrance, California. She has been a Church Organist and Church Musician for 46 years and is currently the Director of Music, Organist and Choir Director at El Segundo United Methodist Church where she has been for the last 21 years.
Prior to coming to Diamond Bar High School, she was employed for 10 years at Brea Olinda High School as the staff accompanist and musical theatre vocal director. Currently she is on the Executive Board of SCVA (Southern California Vocal Association) serving as Show Choir Vice President and is a member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association).
