WVUSD Summer COVID Restrictions

Dear WVUSD Family,

The following COVID-19 restrictions will be in place for the remainder of Summer 2021. An update for COVID-19 restrictions will be provided to all staff prior to the start of school.

On June 15, 2021, the State of California issued new guidelines related to COVID-19, and on June 17, 2021, Cal/OSHA released their revised COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards.  After meeting with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Los Angeles County Office of Education, WVUSD will be implementing the following COVID-19 safety requirements, as required by the California Department of Public Health, Cal/OSHA, and the Los Angeles County Department of Health:

SUMMER SCHOOL (THIS APPLIES TO WHEN STUDENTS ARE PRESENT AND ENGAGED IN ORGANIZED SCHOOL ACTIVITIES INSIDE SCHOOL BUILDINGS)

Face Masks

·       Face masks must be worn inside buildings with the exception of when inside a closed room or office where there are no students and all adults are fully vaccinated* and/or when eating anywhere on campus.

·       Employees and Students are not required to wear face coverings when outdoors regardless of vaccination.

Physical Distancing

While physical distancing requirements have been eliminated, WVUSD recommends continuance of physical distancing where feasible.

Stable Student Groups

Stable Student Groups are considered best practice and should be utilized when possible; a supervising adult may be in as many stable groups as needed.

WVUSD WORKSITE (NO STUDENTS PRESENT)

Face Masks

·       Fully vaccinated* employees do not need to wear face coverings while inside a district building where no students are present.

·       Employees are not required to wear masks outdoors regardless of vaccination status.

Physical Distancing

While physical distancing requirements have been eliminated, WVUSD recommends continuance of physical distancing where feasible.

*OSHA-REQUIRED PROOF OF FULL VACCINATION (ONLY REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYEES DESIRING TO REMOVE FACE MASK, WHERE FEASIBLE)

  • OSHA’s Revised COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards requires employers to document the vaccination status of fully vaccinated employees if they do not wear face coverings indoors. To remove your mask, when appropriate, you are required to complete This Form, attesting you are fully vaccinated.
  • ONLY THOSE EMPLOYEES WISHING TO REMOVE THEIR MASKS, AS PERMITTED ABOVE, MUST COMPLETE This Form (Cal/OSHA 061721).

TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS

  • If an employee travels outside of the State and is vaccinated, there is no need to quarantine unless the employee feels ill and/or is experiencing COVID symptoms.
  • It is recommended unvaccinated employees get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel back to LA County and quarantine for 7 days.  If an employee does not test, the recommendation is to quarantine for 10 days. CDC Informational Link

ILLNESS OR COVID-19 SYMPTOMS

  • If you are ill, please do not come to work.
  • Regardless of vaccination status, if you have COVID-19 like symptoms, you will need to take a COVID-19 test before returning to work.  The District offers no-cost testing through Brea Urgent Care.
  • If you receive a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, please notify your supervisor immediately so that contact tracing can begin.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Fully vaccinated employees do not need to be offered testing or excluded from work if identified as a close contact unless they have COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Employees who are not fully vaccinated may request respirators (N95) from their employer.
  • In the event of an outbreak, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health can direct all employees, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask and physical distance.
  • At this time, employees and visitors (who cannot conduct business remotely with WVUSD) will continue to use the current COVID-19 health screening assessment upon arrival to a WVUSD building.

Just a reminder, you are required to complete This Form, attesting to being fully vaccinated, before you may elect to remove your mask in appropriate settings, as listed above.

These requirements are in place for Summer 2021, and are subject to change based on county and state requirements.  Your safety and well-being are important to us. Thank you for continuing to engage in safe practices as it relates to COVID-19.

For more information, do not hesitate to contact your supervisor or Human Resources.

Sincerely,

Diane Perez, Ed.D.
