In class today, 8/29, students shared information from their charts on literary devices found in The Washwoman. This lead to a discussion on the importance of purpose and on the use of quotes and examples. For homework, students need to choose ONE literary device found in The Washwoman, select three examples of this device, and identify the purpose of the writer's use of the device as shown through each example. Students are NOT writing a paragraph or an essay. All of this information should be on the chart; however, many students did not fully develop their charts and need to go back to the story for evidence and purpose.
