Dear Students,
 
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.  In the next few weeks we will continue our Phase One enrichment learning.  Grades will remain paused until we reach Phase Two distance learning which will begin April 20 - the end of the school year.  I will give you specific assigned work during Phase 2 Distance Learning Sunday, April 19, in the morning.  Please read all messages from our superintendent and principal.  
 
If you look at the enrichment activities for English I and I Honors, you will notice that one of the activities you can continue to do is read an independent reading book.  I've attached a reading commentary sheet and a Major Works Data Sheet for you below so you know what types of things to look for as you read.  By doing these enrichment activities, you will continue to stay focused and hopefully enjoy reading a good book! :)
 
In addition, there are different types of vocabulary listed on the enrichment page that can be very helpful for you.  The Latin and Greek Roots Vocabulary for Grade 9 is a good way to review vocabulary.  Each week you can focus on a different list of words. These lists are also on the enrichment page (DBHS Home page).  I've attached some helpful tips to access games and activities below.
 
Finally, keeping a journal is an excellent way to reflect on what is very important in your life right now.  It's very important to write each day, especially reflective writing. I have attached a list of reflective writing prompts for you so you can continue to sharpen your writing skills.  
 
I have included literary analysis review so you can continue practicing what we used to do in class.  This includes thesis statement review.
 
Remember, please take care of yourselves.  Right now it is very important to keep up the great work you've accomplished in your lives.  Try to keep a routine for learning and staying active.  Continue to be kind to yourselves and others.  I miss you...and I look forward to seeing you all again!  :)

Shortly, students will have an opportunity to review select enrichment activities found on our DBHS Homepage.  Please know that it's very important to establish routines for learning, therefore, please follow the suggested enrichment activities listed on the DBHS Homepage for your grade level.  These activities are meant to help you review while you're home.
 
All classwork and homework we discussed the week of March 9 will resume when we meet again in the future.  For now, please use the enrichment activities provided on our DBHS Homepage to help you review while you're away from class.
