Principal's Message - Week 2

WEEK 2 – August 19 – 23

Hello Brahma Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone’s first week of school went well, and you’re settling into the routine of the new school year. The first few weeks of school are vital for adjusting to the rigor and pace of the academic work load at Diamond Bar. I want our students to challenge themselves academically while keeping a sensible balance in their lives with school activities, family activities, etc.  A vital component in maintaining that balance is the role of our GLCs. I am very grateful to our GLCs for their diligent work this summer, holding individual meetings with all students to review classes and prepare for the school year. Our GLCs are the BEST!

This week is Branding Iron Week! Each day this week will offer spirited activities culminating with our cross-town rivalry Varsity Football game against Walnut High School on Friday, August 23. This year our Brahma Football team will travel over to Walnut High School, Ken Gunn Stadium… 7:00 pm kick-off! In order to rally behind our football team we will host a Pep Rally during our annualRodeo Round-Up (click HERE for more info) on Thursday, August 22, at 5:30 pm. I look forward to seeing you at Rodeo Round-Up and our football game on Friday!

Also, our Girls Volleyball team opened their volleyball season tonight versus Walnut High School at 5:15pm. It was a tough loss. I am proud of the way we fought, and believe that we will get stronger as a result. Click HERE to see our Brahma Volleyball website. Go Brahmas!

Important Updates from our GLCs and the Guidance Office

  • A note on schedule changes: Given our GLC academic course preparation and guidance (begining in March thru summer registration), it is important for students to stay committed to their academic plans and course selections. Changes in student schedules are prioritized for students who may be feeling overwhelmed and need support. Please remember that any changes now create significant interruptions in the learning process and are not ideal for student well-being. As such, schedule changes for reasons such as elective choice, order of courses throughout the day, or teacher changes are very difficult and discouraged. I appreciate your support as we work to support all students.
  • Safety Week – August 26 – 30, 2019 is Safety Week. Next week we will participate in our first set of evacuation drills and campus safety protocols. Special thanks to Interim-Assistant Principal, Mr. Matthew Brummett, for coordinating our campus safety program.
