Brahmas sophomore golfer Jason Chen won top honors as the Hacienda League's Most Valuable Player Wednesday, May 4, finishing even in the third round of the finals at Moutain Meadows in Pomona.
Chen finished the second round six under par and closed out the first round two under par.
Overall, five Brahmas made it into the top eight spots that will move on to CIF Southern Section Individual competition at Desert Willow in Palm Desert on May 16.
The other four that will move on to the next round of competition were freshmen Brian Fong and Dean Sakata, sophomore Ben Koyano, and senior captain Kevin Liang.
Sakata bounced back from an ankle injury to shoot an even par in the third round and senior Kevin Liang cut his second round score by 12 strokes, recovering from a second round score of 88 with a third round of 76, according to Brahama's coach Ty Watkins.
The Brahmas will face competition as a team on Monday, May 9, for the CIF Western Team Divisional tournament.
