Lockdowns, Drills, and Precautions: Recent events have served as reminders that we must be prepared for any emergency situation. The DBHS Administration is currently working with local law enforcement agencies to conduct a full Shelter-In-Place Drill upon our return from break. During this drill students will practice locating and moving to a nearby classroom or other designated safe place during a brunch/lunch/passing period.

In addition to our Shelter-In-Place drill, we have requested that the sheriff’s department conduct their own training exercises at our facility in order to be fully prepared in the event of an armed intruder on our campus. Their exercise will take place during our next late start day on January 22.

With regards to the lockdown that took place on December 17, please know that our collective team acted quickly and efficiently to ensure student and staff safety. Campus safety is our highest priority. Stay tuned for more detailed information regarding our Shelter-In-Place drill scheduled for January 10 and the Walnut Sheriff’s Armed Intruder Training Exercises scheduled for January 22.
