Umeh (C/O '18) Chosen For Disney Film Project

Congratulations to DBHS Alumna Marisa Umeh (C/O 2018), who is now in her freshman year at UC Berkeley. She was selected as one of the 21 aspiring filmmakers from 13 countries for Disney and Girl Up’s Dream Big Princess Project! After attending a storytelling training in Washington, DC, with Disney, Pixar, and ESPN producers, she was assigned Robin Roberts as her interview subject!

Marisa says that “Being able to interview/make a documentary about someone that I had admired from afar, was an incredibly surreal experience. Also, the ability to interview her in New York City on the set of Good Morning America made the experience even more special. I filmed the video in August. Wednesday, August 10, Disney flew the #DreamBigPrincess filmmakers to NYC to appear on Good Morning America and, following the live broadcast, to Orlando, Florida for a celebratory trip to Walt Disney World! These past few days have been a whirlwind and I, now more than ever, am motivated to continue to pursue a career in journalism.”
