Hi Seniors and Parents:
We are hoping everyone is having a good transition to 2nd semester. Everyone should be done or wrapping up the last of their college applications. Woo hoo! Now the waiting game! The connect 4 program at Mt. Sac is a great opportunity for our students. All seniors heard a presentation on Wednesday and hopefully signed up if they were interested in attending or even it was their plan B. If you are still interested in signing up, please see Mrs. Romero in the Career Center (next to library).
Back to the waiting game… we know that it is a very stressful time and that many of you have worked extremely hard to get those acceptance letters. Sometimes we get news that we don’t want to hear. Just know that there are so many amazing colleges out there and hopefully you will all end up at a place you love.
We came across a great article the other day. It goes along with what we always say… you don’t have to go to an IVY League to be successful in the future. Of course they are wonderful schools but if you don’t get in, you will be ok. Check out this article and the research that backs it. Hopefully it puts some of you students/parents at ease, click below:
Senator Chang is forming a Senate Student Advisory Council (SSAC) and she is looking for dedicated and thoughtful students in the 29th Senate District to join the SSAC. The council will meet regularly to discuss issues affecting our district and the state as a whole. Students are key stakeholders in our community, and this council offers participants the opportunity to represent their classmates and help solve issues in California.
See the attached document (BELOW) if you are interested in applying. The deadline to apply is early February, so don’t wait to apply.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Mr. Gonzales and Mrs. Burns
