Accelerated Reader is a computerized learning information system designed to help teachers motivate, monitor, and manage student reading practice.  The computer measures the quality, quantity, and level of reading, and feeds this information back to students, teachers, and parents through a variety of reports.

 

Here's how it works.  A student begins by choosing a book for which there is a Reading Practice quiz available and one that is in their reading level (see STAR READING).  The student reads the book at his/her own pace.  Afterward, the student takes a computerized quiz that quickly assesses his/her comprehension of the book's key characters, events, and information.
