Welcome to Brahma Basketball

Tryouts will be determined at a later date.

Below is a list of criteria to make the team.

New players need to email Coach McCabe tmccabe@wvusd.k12.ca.us and sign up for basketball.

This summer there will not be a summer camp, tryouts or practices.

All players need to communicate any tournaments or travel ball teams that you participate in to Coach McCabe.

This is one way to qualify for one of our teams.

All players need to complete their athletic clearance in preparation for this season.

All players need to do a updated athletic clearance for this year on athleticclearance.com

Please log in and sign up on athleticclearance.com for the 2020-21 season.

If you need help or have questions please ask.

We have a tradition of great players and great teams. We hope for you, that this will be the beginning of a great career at Diamond Bar High School. We have three teams (Varsity, JV, FS) which provide a level of play for any player interested in playing basketball. You must have completed the athletic clearance to participate or tryout in basketball.

The coaching staff will be Coach Tony McCabe email tmccabe@wvusd.k12.ca.us and Erica Younge, Kylance Malveaux, and John Martin.

Tryouts dates are yet to be determined.

I will consider an email your intent to sign up. Please use your stu.wvusd.k12.ca.us email.

After signing up with an email to Coach McCabe, continue to follow the website and complete the invite for Google Classroom for events, assignments and deadlines.

Email Coach McCabe anytime and we look forward to seeing you and talking with you.

Next step is to qualify.

You make the basketball team and will be placed in the 6th period conditioning class if you do one of the following:

1. Participated on a high level travel ball team the last two years.

2. Play varsity in another sport.

3. Make the team with qualifying scores from tryouts. There will be a battery of tests that will determine your score as well as  on the number of people trying out.

4. Participating on a Brahma team in the past does not automatically qualify you for the basketball team.

5. More points are required to make the team for upperclassman on a sliding scale. Seniors need to score higher than a freshman, ect.

All paperwork should be submitted a week before the activities start in order to be processed in time.

VARSITY LETTERMAN

When a varsity athlete meets the criteria as listed by the head coach he or she earns the right to wear a DBHS varsity letter and to purchase a varsity letter jacket.  The criteria to earn a varsity letter may differ from sport to sport as determined by the head coach of the sport.  At the conclusion of the season head coaches send a list of letter winners to the athletic office.  Being a member of a varsity team does not automatically qualify an athlete for a varsity letter.  Letters purchased in the USB student store for $10.  Varsity letters awarded after the sport season is over, not during the season.
